Have you ever came across this? I've only found out recently about it by accident, when I was looking for a domain name for my website. Let me share my findings with you.

 

The World Naked Gardening Day (WNGD) was started in 2005 by the nudist organization Body Freedom Collaborative. The purpose of the day is to โ€œhelp people liberate themselves and help them reconnect with the natural world.โ€

 

Since 2014, World Naked Gardening Day has been on the first Saturday in May. All that's involved is getting naked and making the world's gardens; whatever their size, public or private; healthier and more attractive.

โ“How to celebrate World Naked Gardening Dayโ“

So, what exactly are you supposed to do? 

 

๐Ÿ… It's pretty simple. Enjoy being in your birthday suit under the gentle glow of the spring sun, plant some tomatoes, do some weeding, or tend your flowers.

 

โค๏ธIt is intended as a fun movement to encourage body positivity. I think all of us could do with a little bit more TLC and appreciation for our bodies. The underlying message is acceptance of our bodies, just the way we are.

๐ŸฅณThis day was always intended to spread the message of positivity, so have fun while you celebrate.

 

Protect the skin you live in! 

 

๐Ÿงด Don't forget to put some sunscreen on. Make sure your (very much exposed) skin doesnโ€™t suffer any sun damage as you potter about in your backyard. 


Things to avoid!

Avoid areas where nettles are present.

๐ŸŒน Stay away from thorny bushes. Roses are probably a no-no.

๐ŸŒถ๏ธ Avoid handling chili peppers.


I can hear you saying, this is too much for me! I understand. How about just going ๐Ÿ‘ฃbarefoot for the day?

When we make a connection with the Earth ๐ŸŒŽ and ground through barefoot walking, it has been shown to help increase antioxidants, reduce inflammation, and improve sleep.   

Do you know the blissful feeling when you take those tight shoes off at the end of the day? Just pamper your feet and let them be free.


Whether you'll be celebrating or not, get some fresh air anyway. It always help!
